£11.4m awarded to both London City Strategy Pathfinders to deliver work focused English for Speakers of Other Languages to parents
Programme Activity:
Objectives:
- To trial short, work-focused approaches to English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) courses in the London City Strategy Pathfinders for parents on benefits or tax credits
- To help parents with ESOL needs to improve their employability, progress to work and sustain employment.
- The pilot aimed to support 5000 participants, of which 2400 were West London residents.
Achievements to date:
- Innovative specification, in line with our vision that promotes the 'journey to work' concept and the need for providers to work in partnership
- Delivery in all West London boroughs.
- 2,218 West London residents have received employability and english language support to help them find work (figures to December 2010)
- LLU+, London South Bank University supported the Partnerships delivering the work focused ESOL pilot for parents by providing regular events and surgeries. for details of the support programme and events held.
